Find a Counsellor who meets your needs.
Pluralistic Approach to Counselling
The pluralistic approach puts the client at the heart of the counselling sessions and believes that each of us has the ability to change and improve our own mental well-being as long as we are given the correct environment. The approach provides you, the client, with a safe non-judgmental, confidential space where you will feel supported by your counsellor in finding your way through the issues you are facing.
A session may include talking about your past and present relationships, your childhood experiences, and how you feel or behave. It is important to remember that you don’t have to talk about anything you’re not ready to talk about. Sessions may also include going for a walk or playing games to help you to relax into the sessions
What to Expect
Your first session will have a form of assessment in it, where the counsellor will also talk about the type of therapy they offer, how they practice and how long the sessions will last. They will talk to you about what you want to get from counselling and also about their confidentiality policy and how this affects you. They will cover what to do if you need to cancel a session, miss a session, or turn up late for a session. The counsellor will also cover any concerns or worries you have about entering into counselling; remember, if you are unsure about anything, it’s ok to ask questions at any time before, during or after the sessions.
"It’s a scary thing reaching out for help, but Louder Than Words took a lot of that anxiety and fear out of the equation. I was able to get tailored support from the counselling team that fitted my sensory needs."
